Tchibo is a well-known German coffee retailer and café chain, recognized not only for its coffee but also for its unique range of non-coffee products that change every week. Its German slogan, “Every week a new world” (Jede Woche eine neue Welt), reflects this concept.
Founded in 1949 in Hamburg by Max Herz and Carl Tchilinghiryan, Tchibo still operates its headquarters in the northern part of the city.
The name Tchibo is a blend of Tchiling (from Tchilinghiryan) and Bohnen (German for coffee beans).
