Telecinco is a Spanish free-to-air television channel operated by Mediaset España.
Originally launched as Tele 5, the channel began experimental broadcasts in March 1989 and officially started regular transmissions on 3 March 1990.
It became Spain’s fifth national terrestrial TV channel and the country’s second private television broadcaster.
In 1997, the network was rebranded as Telecinco, adopting a simplified identity that distinguished it from other Mediaset channels.
