Cars is an American animated film series and media franchise set in a fictional world inhabited by anthropomorphic vehicles. Created by John Lasseter, Joe Ranft, and Jorgen Klubien, the franchise began with the release of Cars in 2006, produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

The success of the original film led to sequels Cars 2 (2011) and Cars 3 (2017), expanding the story and characters.
