Since 2016, it has been jointly owned by Ninestar Corporation (formerly Apex Technology), PAG Asia Capital, and Legend Capital.

On December 23, 2024, Xerox Holdings Corporation announced its agreement to acquire Lexmark for $2.8 billion, aiming to strengthen its print portfolio and expand global managed print services, with the deal expected to close in the second half of 2025.
