Prada S.p.A. is an Italian luxury fashion house founded in 1913 in Milan by Mario Prada.

The brand is known for its leather handbags, travel goods, footwear, ready-to-wear collections, and a wide range of fashion accessories. Prada also licenses its name to Luxottica for eyewear and to L’Oréal for fragrances and cosmetics.

Originally a retailer of English leather goods, the company shifted toward innovative materials—most notably waterproof nylon—under the leadership of Mario’s granddaughter Miuccia Prada and her husband, Patrizio Bertelli, in the 1970s.

By the 1990s, Prada had become recognized as a leading luxury label celebrated for its distinctive design approach. During this era, Miuccia Prada also launched Miu Miu as a subsidiary brand, and the company collaborated with LVMH on strategic investments within the fashion industry.
