Gmarket (G마켓) is a South Korean e-commerce platform that began as part of Interpark in 1999 before spinning off as its own site in 2000.
Originally launched as Goodsdaq, it adopted the name Gmarket in 2003 and grew into one of the country’s leading online marketplaces, supporting customer-to-customer and business-to-consumer transactions.
The company was acquired by eBay in 2009 and later sold to the Shinsegae Group, continuing to play a major role in South Korea’s digital retail landscape.
