IndyCar Series Logo in Vector

The IndyCar Series, officially the NTT IndyCar Series, is the top level of American open-wheel racing. Although its roots trace back to 1920 under various sanctioning bodies, the modern series is overseen by IndyCar, LLC.
The organization began in 1996 as the Indy Racing League (IRL), created by Indianapolis Motor Speedway owner Tony George as a rival to Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART).
In 2008, the series unified when the IRL merged with CART’s successor, the Champ Car World Series, combining the history and records of all major U.S. open-wheel championships.
Today, the IndyCar Series remains known for its blend of oval, road, and street circuits—highlighted by the iconic Indianapolis 500.
