Life Fitness is an American fitness equipment company known for producing high-quality cardiovascular and strength-training machines under its Life Fitness and Hammer Strength brands.
Headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, the company provides equipment to gyms, sports facilities, and training centers worldwide and is owned by KPS Capital Partners.
The business traces its roots to 1968, when Keene P. Dimick developed an early exercise bike design. In 1977, Augie Nieto founded Lifecycle, Inc. to commercialize the bikes, and the company was later acquired by Bally Total Fitness in 1984 and renamed Life Fitness.
The brand went on to expand its offering, introducing the first computerized strength-training program in 1988 and becoming a leading name in commercial fitness equipment.
