Miami Marlins are an American professional baseball team based in Miami, Florida, competing in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the National League (NL) East Division. The franchise began play in 1993 as the Florida Marlins and later rebranded to reflect its Miami identity.

Originally sharing Joe Robbie Stadium with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, the team moved in 2012 to LoanDepot Park (formerly Marlins Park), its first baseball-specific home stadium. The name change to Miami Marlins was part of the agreement with Miami-Dade County tied to the new ballpark.
