Microcar was a French manufacturer of small vehicles, founded in 1980 as a division of sailboat maker Jeanneau.

Known for producing microcars and license-exempt “sans permis” vehicles, the company became part of Ligier Automobiles in 2008, forming one of Europe’s largest microcar manufacturers.

In 2024, Ligier announced the discontinuation of the Microcar brand to focus on its main operations, and the Montaigu factory was closed in early 2025.
