Minor League Baseball (MiLB) is a professional baseball organization in the United States that operates below Major League Baseball (MLB), serving as its official developmental system.

Established on September 5, 1901, as the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues (NAPBL), MiLB was created to organize and protect smaller clubs competing against the growing influence of the National and American Leagues.

Originally independent, MiLB evolved through agreements with MLB that formalized the farm system, allowing major league teams to develop and evaluate young players.
