New York City Football Club (NYCFC) is an American professional soccer club based in New York City, competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) within the Eastern Conference.
Founded as the league’s twentieth expansion team, NYCFC played its first MLS game in 2015.
The club is primarily owned by City Football Group, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi United Group, with minority stakes held by Yankee Global Enterprises (owners of the New York Yankees) and investor Marcelo Claure.
