Pantene is an American brand of hair care products owned by Procter & Gamble (P&G). Originally developed in Europe in 1945 by Swiss company Hoffmann-La Roche, the brand was named after panthenol, a key ingredient. It expanded globally after being acquired by Richardson Vicks in 1985, which was later taken over by P&G the same year. The acquisition marked P&G’s entry into the beauty products market.
