Peterbilt Motors Company is an American manufacturer of commercial trucks, best known for producing heavy-duty (Class 8) and medium-duty (Classes 5–7) vehicles.
The company was founded in 1939 by T. A. “Al” Peterman after acquiring Fageol Truck and Motor Company.
Since 1958, Peterbilt has operated as a division of PACCAR, competing directly with its sister brand, Kenworth Truck Company, in one of the longest-running rivalries in the U.S. trucking industry.
