Quanta Computer Incorporated is a leading Taiwanese manufacturer of notebook computers and electronic hardware, listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Founded in 1988 by Barry Lam—a Shanghai-born entrepreneur raised in Hong Kong and educated in Taiwan—the company started with under $900,000 in capital. It developed its first notebook prototype in November 1988 and launched factory production in 1990.
