Teva is an American footwear brand best known for its sport sandals and outdoor-inspired designs.

The brand was created by geophysicist Mark Thatcher in the early 1980s after he noticed the lack of reliable footwear for river activities while working as a rafting guide. Traditional sneakers became heavy when wet, while flip-flops were unstable and impractical.

Teva’s original design solved this problem by combining straps with a durable sole, helping define a new category of functional outdoor sandals.

In 2002, the brand and its assets were acquired by Deckers Brands, further expanding Teva’s global reach.
