Tron (TRON) is a decentralized, proof-of-stake blockchain platform designed for smart contracts and high-throughput digital transactions. Its native cryptocurrency, Tronix (TRX), powers the network’s ecosystem, supporting decentralized applications (dApps), digital entertainment, and peer-to-peer content sharing.

Founded in 2014 by Justin Sun, Tron was initially launched as an Ethereum-based ERC-20 token before migrating to its own blockchain in 2018. The network is maintained by the TRON Foundation, a non-profit organization established in Singapore in 2017.
