University of Cambridge crest in Vector
The coat of arms of the University of Cambridge was officially granted in 1573 during the visitation of the County of Cambridge by Robert Cooke, Clarenceux King of Arms. The design features a red shield with a cross of ermine, set between four golden lions. At the centre of the cross is a decorated, closed Bible with clasps.
The elements of the arms symbolize the university’s heritage: the lions denote royal patronage, the ermine cross represents dignity, and the Bible signifies both knowledge and the university’s Christian foundations.
