Utah Jazz are an American professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah, competing in the NBA as part of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference.

Founded in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz, the franchise relocated to Utah in 1979 and has played its home games at the Delta Center since the 1991–92 season.

After struggling in their early years, the Jazz developed into one of the league’s most consistent teams from the mid-1980s onward. The era led by John Stockton and Karl Malone, under long-time head coach Jerry Sloan, defined the franchise’s identity with a disciplined, team-oriented style of play. This period culminated in two NBA Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998, establishing the Jazz as one of the dominant teams of the 1990s.
