The Uzbekistan national football team represents Uzbekistan in international men’s football and is governed by the Uzbekistan Football Association. Since gaining independence in 1991, Uzbekistan has established itself as the most successful national team in Central Asian football.

Uzbekistan has consistently been one of the strongest teams in Asia, achieving its best AFC Asian Cup performance in 2011 when it reached the semi-finals for the first time. The team also won the gold medal at the 1994 Asian Games and finished as runner-up in the 1995 Afro-Asian Cup of Nations.

A historic milestone was achieved when Uzbekistan qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the nation’s first-ever World Cup appearance. With this achievement, Uzbekistan became the first Central Asian country and only the third post-Soviet nation after Russia and Ukraine to qualify for a FIFA World Cup finals tournament.

The team plays an important role in the rapid growth of football across Central Asia and has produced several players who have competed in major leagues throughout Asia and Europe.
