The Washington Commanders, formerly known as the Washington Redskins, are a professional American football team based in the Washington metropolitan area, competing in the National Football League (NFL).

Founded in 1932 by George Preston Marshall as the Boston Braves, the team relocated to Washington, D.C., in 1937 and adopted its current name in 2022.
