AmeriCorps, officially the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), is an independent U.S. government agency that engages over five million Americans in stipended volunteer service. Established by the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993, it includes programs like AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps NCCC, AmeriCorps State and National, and AmeriCorps Seniors. Its mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and promote civic engagement. In 2020, the agency rebranded as AmeriCorps while retaining its official name.
