National Football Conference (NFC) Logo
The original NFC logo, used from 1970 to 2009, featured a blue letter “N” accented by three stars. Similar to the AFC logo—and unlike the primary National Football League (NFL) shield—the design relied on a single initial rather than a full abbreviation. The three stars symbolized the NFC’s original divisional structure, which consisted of the Eastern, Central, and Western divisions from 1970 through 2001.
For the 2010 NFL season, the NFC introduced an updated logo that largely preserved the original design. The most notable change was the addition of a fourth star, representing the four divisions that have made up the conference since the 2002 realignment. The American Football Conference (AFC) logo was updated at the same time in a similar fashion, reinforcing visual consistency between the two conferences.
