The United Soccer League (USL) is an organization that oversees a range of professional, pre-professional, and youth soccer leagues within the United States.

Its structure includes men’s competitions such as the USL Championship, League One, and League Two, as well as women’s leagues including the USL Super League and the W League. The USL also manages the USL Academy, USL Youth programs, and the USL Cup for its professional men’s teams.

The organization began in 1986 as a minor indoor men’s league before expanding into outdoor soccer in 1989. Rebranded as the United States Interregional Soccer League (USISL), it launched the W-League for women and reorganized its men’s league system into multiple tiers during the mid-1990s. Its top men’s division later merged with the American Professional Soccer League to form the A-League in 1997, influenced by the emergence of Major League Soccer. After discontinuing indoor soccer in 1998, the organization adopted the name United Soccer Leagues in 1999.
