Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras S/A, commonly known as Azul Brazilian Airlines, is a Brazilian airline headquartered in Barueri, São Paulo.

Founded on May 5, 2008, by David Neeleman, who also founded JetBlue, the airline’s name, meaning “Blue” in Portuguese, was chosen via a 2008 naming contest where “Samba” was a runner-up.

Azul began operations on December 15, 2008, with a fleet of 76 Embraer E195 jets, offering domestic and regional flights across Brazil.
