The Canadian Football League (CFL) is the top professional Canadian football league, featuring nine teams split between the East and West divisions.

Headquartered in Toronto, the CFL represents the highest level of the sport worldwide. The league was formed in 1958 through the merger of the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union, known as the Big Four, and the Western Interprovincial Football Union.

Today, the CFL runs a 21-week regular season in which each team plays 18 games, followed by playoffs that lead to the Grey Cup—one of Canada’s biggest annual sporting and broadcast events. The season typically spans from mid-June to early November.
